Description
The history of the Jewish population of the Russian capital was not easy. Periods of cultural and economic growth were replaced by new oppressions and outbreaks of anti-Semitism. Yet Jews have certainly made a valuable contribution to the cultural and historical appearance of our cosmopolituous city. “Jewish Moscow” acquaints the reader with little-known materials about the Jews – residents of the capital, an extensive study by S. Vermel “Jews in Moscow” (published from an archival manuscript), a modern guide to memorable places of the “Jewish” history of the city and other, no less interesting materials. From them it becomes obvious how closely intertwined the history of Moscow with the history of the Jewish people.
