Description
Aaron Appelfeld’s heroine, Katherin, is a gentile Ukrainian girl who finds herself in a Jewish home and feels a strong connection to Jewish people. During the German occupation of Ukraine, she watches the annihilation of the Jewish people in horror. Years later, she returns to her home town, and commemorates the people who were dear to her heart that she lost.
