Description
‘A Social and Religious History of the Jews’ was published in 18 volumes between 1952 and 1983, by Columbia University Press (New York) in collaboration with the Jewish Publication Society of America (Philadelphia).
Social and Religious History of the Jews Vol. 6, paints a broad picture of the ideological and religious life of the Jewish communities of the Diaspora during the early and high Middle Ages. Particular attention is paid not only to the polemics of Judaism with other monotheistic religions that broke out in that era, but also to the disputes within the Jewish communities themselves, which led to the Karaite schism.
