‘A Social and Religious History of the Jews’ was published in 18 volumes between 1952 and 1983, by Columbia University Press (New York) in collaboration with the Jewish Publication Society of America (Philadelphia).
The seventh volume of the Religious History of the Jews is devoted to the birth of Jewish linguistics and the first scientific works in this field, the development of the liturgy, historical research, as well as poetic creativity and music.
