Why tell tales about Jerusalem?
And really, why? Jerusalem is a city as a city, the capital of the real modern State of Israel, and live in it living people who go to school and work, eat and drink, make friends and quarrel. But at the same time, it is a fabulous city. And not even one city, but two – one on earth, and the other, they say, in the sky. Here no one will be surprised by miracles; events that occurred thousands of years ago are told as if they happened yesterday, and today’s news sounds like a retelling of ancient legends. Jerusalem children often seem to be wise elders, old people have fun like children, and adults can not always remember how old they really are and according to what chronology. In general, no matter how you talk about the present, today’s Jerusalem, you still get a fairy tale.
